A simple visual way to show what’s happening now and what comes next.
The Now & Next Communication Board provides a clear space for two visual tiles, helping make routines, activities and transitions more visible and predictable.
Add the current activity under Now and what will follow under Next. When the first activity is finished, remove the tile, move the next activity across and add what’s coming afterwards.
Now & Next boards, sometimes called First & Then boards, are commonly used as a visual support to help someone understand the order of activities and what is happening next. They can be particularly useful when spoken information is difficult to process, transitions feel uncertain or seeing the plan visually is simply easier.
Simple, flexible and reusable
Use your board for everyday sequences such as:
Now: Brush teeth → Next: Get dressed
Now: Maths → Next: Break
Now: Lunch → Next: Outside
Now: Shopping → Next: Home
The visuals can be changed throughout the day, so the same board can support home routines, school activities, appointments, getting ready, transitions and days out.
It doesn’t need to be used as a reward chart. Now & Next can simply show what is happening and in what order, helping make the next step clearer. NHS speech and language guidance specifically cautions against treating Now & Next purely as a compliance/reward system rather than a visual transition support.
Who can use a Now & Next board?
Visual supports can be useful for children and adults who benefit from clear, visual information, including autistic people and people who may find spoken language, transitions, attention, memory or routines more difficult to process. They can be used at home, school, college, care settings or out and about.
The important bit is whether visual information works for the individual, rather than requiring a particular diagnosis.

Your board arrives with Velcro already fitted, so you can start adding compatible visual tiles straight away.
Choose from a range of board colours to suit the person using it, with more colours available than those shown in the photographs.
The board is designed to fit two 45mm COMMZ tiles, giving you a simple Now / Next layout without unnecessary visual clutter.

Gradient and colour-change prints will vary from item to item. Colour placement depends on where the material is in the roll at the time of printing, so your item may not look exactly like the photos.
AGE, SUPERVISION AND MOUTHING
Most of our products are for ages 3+, however some ranges are recommended for older users — please check the product page before use.
Adult supervision is recommended for all users.
Not designed for chewing or biting. If the user is likely to mouth items (this can happen beyond age 3), choose a chew-safe product designed for that purpose and use close supervision.
SMALL PARTS / CHOKING HAZARD
Some items contain small parts or moving parts. Keep away from children under 3 years and pets.
Stop using if anything becomes loose, cracked or damaged.
CHECK BEFORE USE
Before use, and from time to time, check for wear, damage, cracks or loosened parts.
Discontinue use if anything looks compromised.
INTENDED USE
Designed for gentle fidgeting and sensory play. Please don’t force parts, over-bend, pull sharply, or use in ways the item isn’t designed for.
CLEANING AND CARE
Wipe clean with a damp cloth or rinse with water where suitable. Avoid dishwashers and harsh/abrasive cleaners.
Allow to fully dry before use.
HEAT AND FULL DETAILS
Keep away from extreme heat and prolonged direct sunlight (e.g. radiators, hot cars, windowsills).
